For web development, I learned how to use HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and Local. I have made several mock up websites for real non-profit organizations, such as for Polaroid Retirees and the Lion’s Club. With the coding we learned Python, JavaScript and Java. Web Design was the part of shop I found to be most interested in.
For game design we used unity to make 2D and 3D games. We made small prototypes for Breakout, platformers, Role Playing Games and First Person Shooters. In Academics, the courses I have had apply most in my life were English and History. My favorite assignments were the ones where you got to research your own topic and write about it.
In my future, I plan on joining the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. When I came to OC my first choice was Carpentry, and while I don’t plan on a Computer Science career I still enjoyed my time here. I want to join the Union because I can get a apprenticeship with them, and when I become a Journeyman I can make a lot of money. I plan on saving my money and not touching it. You can also get a pension with them which will be helpful when I retire, which can be as young as 55.
In my free time I like reading, Vexillology, movies and studying US and Irish History. I also like to travel across the US with my family. My favorite book I have read was The Postman by David Brin written in 1985, and my favorite movie is the 1961 Paul Newman movie The Hustler. Vexillology is the study of flags, which goes hand in hand with history. I like to learn about the history of flags and their meaning behind them. I also like designing my own flags in Photoshop, I have made two Massachusetts state flag redesigns. Overall, throughout these past 4 years at OC I have learned many skills that will give me sure footing for my adult years.
