Reflection

My four years at Old Colony have been a very interesting period of my life. The shop I ended up in was Computer Science, and there I learned and met a lot of friends. One of my favorite parts in the shop has been Web Design. I remember making simple websites in freshman year that had no CSS, and eventually making professional wordpress sites in senior year. We also learned 3 programming languages, Python in freshman year, JavaScript in sophomore year, and Java in junior and senior year.

In Academics I have had some of the best teachers, some of the ones who stood out to me was my freshman year History teacher Mr. Oldham, my sophomore English teacher Ms. Roderick, my junior English and history teacher Mr. Terrien, my junior forensics and senior AP Environmental Science teacher Ms. Smith and my senior Civics teacher Mr. McNamee. Those were some of the best classes I have ever had. I loved learning about Forensic Science and History and English have always been some of my favorite subjects.

In high school, I have done many new things. One of my best experiences was going skiing in Maine at Sunday River. It was really fun, and going down the mountain going left and right with the wind in my face, it was an experience like no other. The ski lift was pretty fun to go on, I really liked being high up and seeing the snow covered mountain with the many pine trees. I’ve also started reading more, and outside of school. Some of my favorite books were The Hustler and The Color of Money by Walter Tevis and The Postman by David Brin.

I was nervous to go into high school when I was in 8th grade. I was going to a new school that wasn’t part of my previous district, but in the end I had nothing to worry about. Most of my friends did come over, but I met many more that I would have never met if I didn’t go to Old Colony. I have had a lot of fun doing things like going to the town carnival with my friends, hiking at Purgatory Chasm or going to the mall with them. A few times with some of the kids in the shop we have even gotten together and had a small banquet. One of the best things we did in school however, was going on a field trip to the Breakers in NewPort, Rhode Island to see the Vanderbilt Mansion.

In closing, going to Old Colony was one of the best decisions of my life. I am so grateful that I was accepted here. I have learned so much, and met so many nice people. This school has been one of the most welcoming communities, and I am proud to say I am one of them.
